Prof-Dev Meeting - July 2026

@prof-dev

It really doesn’t feel like it’s been a month, but here we ware.

Agenda

  1. Followup on anything from previous meeting
  2. Virtual Workshop
  3. Annual Conference

@prof-dev My apologies, the original post of this event had it starting at 10:00!

We will be meeting at the usual time, 14:00. See you this afternoon, if you can make it.

Meeting Notes

In attendance:

  • Burt
  • Chris
  • Hunter
  • Britney
  • Josh

Virtual Workshop

@BMcAlpine @hunter_ray and @jcarlson -

I will be creating a space here on the forum to facilitate communications between workshop leaders and attendees. Registration form will hopefully go out next week?

In the mean time, I will need from each of us:

  • A title for your workshop
  • A couple sentences’ description of what you’ll cover
  • Any requirements we should ask of the participants (software installed, etc)
  • Any files we want to provide to participants

Committee consensus seems to be that we should lean towards keeping it basic. Have a “stretch goal”, maybe, but we should keep it light and accessible, assuming that participants may not have much (or any) incoming experience with these topics.

Annual Conference

Local Points of Interest

@BritneyWest will make a map of cool places in easy walking distance, which we can include in the digital agenda, maybe as a printout at the registration desk, etc. We don’t wanna step on toes if there’s a Sunday evening social, but we can just “put it out there” for folks who want to go on their own excursions or in small groups.

Hi Josh, I had the wrong date in my Outlook. I thought the committee meeting was this week (7/30). Can you put the dates for the remainder of 2026 on the calendar in the forum so I can correctly block my Outlook calendar?

I was hoping we could have used this July meeting to set up the webinar on 8/12 with Mike Scott from DoIT. Because I missed it, can we find a time to meet together so I can learn how to setup a webinar? Or if you want to do it and send me the info, I can send it to Mike on that email chain from earlier this month. Let me know.

-Dan

Sure can! I will do that today. Though I’m busy, my schedule is pretty flexible, so I can make whatever meeting time work that you need.

Did you read the post at How To Run a Webinar? The main thing is just pressing record and paying enough attention to ask some good questions if the audience doesn’t have any.
