Springfield Regional: How was it?

Hey there! Any of you attend the regional meeting in Springfield last week? What were some highlights? I would love to hear about it, wasn’t able to make it myself.

We had a nice sized group of almost 50 attendees this time around. Starting off was Cassidy from IDOT talking about their progress on a statewide CORS network “ICORN” I…Corn…

Next up was John Gilmore presenting on Lead Service Line inventories that his company did work on, it was interesting to hear about how they went about collecting the meter side information and some of the speedbumps they encountered and how they handled them.

Sara Rogers from the Town of Normal presented on Co-Creating GIS solutions and their strategy of meeting with and at the same time building an application for their public works department. Having them there on a regular basis and included in the entire app’s design process really showed how having the buy-in from PW can really fine tune an app that they will be using.

Someone had to get lunch, so I unfortunately missed the next 2 presentations, Insert something about AI reading old documents and Adam Aull talking about garbage for a half hour?

After lunch Hunter Ray presented on Tasks in ArcGIS Field Maps and did a speed run of going from nothing to a workflow (not the ESRI™ application) on filling potholes in well under 30 minutes.

I presented on the City of St. Charles, Kane and DuPage County Illinois’ trip to the Utility Network for our Water, Stormwater and Wastewater utilities.

Finally, we had a public works panel discussion with a whole lot of great audience participation.

50 attendees is a great turnout, and it sounds like the content was as well! Excited to see everyone at the Chicago Regional on June 26th!
