Lightning Talks from KCGIS

2026 ILGISA Chicago - Lightning Talks with KCGIS.pdf (8.5 MB)

Hey everyone! Friday’s meeting was a blast!

I’ve posted our presentation. We’d love any feedback and keep the conversation going.

Was there a topic that you’d like to see in long-form? We are thinking of submitting some of these topics to the annual.

Happy Monday!

Loved the lightning talks, they all were fantastic and the short format kept the energy flowing! I especially liked the accessible restaurants and Buffers and Beyond talks and would love to learn more about both of those projects.

I’ve been doing the sex offender registry buffers for our law enforcement for years. If you’re using OSM, do you not include in-home daycares? I’ve always tried to keep that specific information private versus public parks, day care centers, etc. Thanks for sharing!

Hello Alexis @amcadams ! I’m Sarai who presented on my accessible restaurants project! I am so glad to hear that you are interested in learning more about this. I am currently building a MapComplete project will allow anyone to respond to the inclusivity and accessibility survey anytime they visit to a restaurant, bar, coffee shop, etc. and the survey you fill out will map out the data in real time. I will post it on the forum when it’s ready. but if you have any questions, thoughts, ideas, or would like to collaborate, I would be happy to have a conversation! My email is shernandez@kendallcountyil.gov

Hi Lauren,

we do include the in-home daycares but that is an internal layer we do not add to OSM. I have a guide coming up  Hope that helps!
