Where does your GIS office/department “live” in terms of your county’s government structure? Are you your own department and report to a county board or county administrator? Are you part of another department and report to that department head? Just trying to get a feel of where most county GIS offices are situated.
Whiteside County GIS has always been a part of the Supervisor of Assessments Department.
At Kendall County, we report to Technology Services, and ultimately answer to County Administration. Been that way since before I started.

At Peoria County, our GIS office is in the Information Technology Services department. I report directly to the CIO of the department.
At both the City of DeKalb and DeKalb County GIS is in the IT departments.
In the IT department. I report to the IT Director but I work with all city departments for any GIS needs.
