Since our last meeting, the conference agenda has gone public! It’s looking like another good year. That said, there’s a bit that we can do as a committee to help tie in some loose ends.
Workshops
At the time of writing this, there are two open slots for workshops. If you or a colleague has something that could fill a 90 minute slot, it’d be great to get them involved. I’m already giving one, and people hear from me enough as it is…
I know some of y’all are gonna be hanging out in the GeoLounge, too. I think it would be great if we could get a new face in the workshops. It doesn’t have to be too in-depth or extensive; 90 minutes get filled up pretty quick.
Panels
We’ve got two panels we were asked to head up:
Mid-Career GIS Panel
This Side of the County Line: Discussing County GIS
We could use 4 or 5 panelists for each, as well as a “moderator”. No reason the moderator couldn’t also be a panelist as well. I don’t mind pulling panelists from the usual suspects, but it’s a low-prep way to get newer folks involved. I would encourage you each to reach out to one or two people you know who could be good additions to our panels.
Panels are great! Moderators sometimes prep questions, but encourage audience participation and answer the questions people actually want to ask, and discussion sort of guides itself.
There are a number of other panels going on as well, even in the same time slot as the ones listed above. You’re a committee member second. If you want to attend or participate on one of the other panels instead, that is totally fine!
